Ubbi New Product Development
While at Ubbi, I concepted, sketched and created new products for retail. Products primarily consisted of bath toys. During the process, I worked closely with freelance industrial designers and Chinese factories to bring these concepts to life.
Starfish Suction Bath Toys
CONCEPT BRIEF/SKETCH IDEATION
Created concept brief for freelance industrial designers containing sketches of concepts, inspiration images as well as shipped them physical material samples and similar product references.
INDUSTRIAL DESIGN RENDERINGS
Industrial designers in turn sent us back CAD renderings for review, edits and final sign off before sending production files to China for tooling and fabrication.
FINAL PRODUCT
In the end, the starfish was the only option that came to life due to cost of the others to create.
The product contained suction cups that held the starfish to the bath walls for children to learn dexterity and increase playfulness at bath time.
Boat & Buoy Bath Toy
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Boat & Buoy Bath toys consisted of one soft silicone boat and four hard plastic buoys that are perfect for little hands. The toy contains additional drain holes to provide a fun rain effect for play time.
PRODUCT IN ACTION
These toys were designed to float in the bath and contain two “smoke stacks” for the buoys to stack on. By stacking the buoys, the toy helps kids learn dexterity as they grow.
Cloud & Droplet Bath Toys
INDUSTRIAL DESIGN RENDERINGS
Similar to the Suction Cup Toys, these clouds went through a rendering process to get the shape of each right for little hands. Toys are made of a soft silicone material.
PRODUCTS IN ACTION
Equipped with a small hole on top that can be effortlessly covered and uncovered to control the rain flow from the small bottom holes.
Product can be opened and is dishwasher safe to prevent mold and extend the longevity of the toys.
Lighthouse Stacking Cups
STACKED CUPS
The Lighthouse Stacking Cups can be stacked to resemble a lighthouse with its red and white striped designs. Additionally the cups can be stacked within each other for easy storage.
INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS
The cups have handles to scoop water and a few are equipped with drain holes to watch it rain out the bottom. The blue top piece has a spill wheel within it for additional engagement during bath time.
